Dutch Producers Terrace & The Moderator continue to worship house music, with this second EP as their joined venture project Alemo. This time even rock music inspired them as they composed the triplet-based solid dance floor track 'Tripolis'. The track 'Patch my love' is a continuation of their typical style, which combines progressive elements with Detroit Techno influenced details. And then there is Crash House, which features housemaster Marshall Jefferson explaining how house music is done. And Justin Berkovi turned this classic track into a modern, uplifting tech-house dance floor killer with his Nightrax remix.

Tripolis fuses a schaffel beat and deep bass with The Moderators trademark lush analog synth pads. Patch My Love takes a nice pentatonic ostinato and layers on the Detroit strings. Crash House just has bass for days, and breaks down in unexpected and interesting ways. The Berkovi mix tones down the reverb in favor of big foreground analog synth stabs. In both cases I could do without the vocal sample -- After 20 years I recognize house music without it being labeled ;-) but other than that I love both versions.

Patch My Love is noteworthy. Those stereotypical FM sounds of Detroit are certainly there. Justin Berkovi's remix is the pick of the lot though. I always like getting Evo Next promos because I never know what I'm going to hear. It's a great A&R policy and keeps me on my toes.
