Tim Wolff
Senor Swanky EP

Amsterdam's Tim Wolff returns to EevoNext Recordings with the EP Señor Swanky. As with his debut Sostenuto EP (also on EevoNext) a variety of styles is on offer. The title track sports a smooth trumpet solo set to a relentless bass line, resulting in a jazzy, swaying deephouse cut. It is followed by God Bless You Detroit, a hypnotic deeptechno affair that has dubby delayed synths circling a melancholy vocal sample. On Does That Count, the third track, a young woman's voice, reminiscent of The Orbs Little Fluffy Clouds, lingers over lush organ chords and a vintage plucked bass. Last but not least comes EevoNext big wig Estroe's remix of Señor Swanky, who turns it into a thumping, tight techno tune.

It's hard to be specific about what I like about this release, but in no particular order: the fusion of deep house feeling with proper techno structures, the patient pacing in how the tracks unfold.  For a dutchie, Wolff is right on top of the feel of Detroit House artists like Reggie Dokes and Omar S.

Nice atmospheric techno in the style of Detroits best. As I know Tim Wolff from several productions he made for the Vinylized competition I expected this release to be a little bit darker. Production-wise he made a big improvement.

"God Bless You Detroit" is the best thing I've heard you guys release yet!  To me, it's an instant classic.  Really musical minimal techno track with a deliciously respectful sample about Detroit.  I would expect a lot of air and club play for this track.  A+!!!!
