Update: This album is now out on CD, limited edtion only!

Future Beat Alliance aka Matthew Puffett proudly presents his third full length album, the first one on the EevoNext recordings imprint. Patience and distance refers to getting from A to B in the best possible way in a bad situation, trying to control anxiety and fears. The featured tracks reflect on that, most of them being recorded in an impulse to capture the moment, after long lost weekends in the city. In essence, they form therapy sessions to recover from the big city stress. Having worked an average day or 2 on each track, it still took a few years to compile everything into this excellent album. Some highlights: The title track 'Patience and distance' has calm, yet exciting feel to it, transmitting peace and relaxation. 'Eremin 5' beautifully transforms from an ambient piece into a complex pattern of rhythm, sequences and chord pads that make you feel all shiny and new. 'Without words' makes you think about the world and it's complexities, and 'Calculated notes' resembles the energy from the city travels after which it was created.

Minto (downlowmusic)

A brilliant album by FBA! One of the best techno albums I've heard in a couple years! This one is sure to stand the test of time and fitting for it to come out on Eevo Lute.

TJ Kong

Lush, classic electronic music. Really like it!!!

Duplex (John Matze)

Matthew Puffett is the guy who loves warm atmospheric pad sounds combined with relaxed, occasionally hectic arpeggio's and simple beats.

The result is, beautiful dreamy and spheric tracks.

They are doing well in your livingroom or ipod, while travelling across the highlands for example.

'Patience and distance' will become a timeless masterpiece

I love it!

airplayreview: Active since 1996 Matthew Puffett is the guy behind the Future Beat Alliance moniker and PATIENCE AND DISTANCE  is his third full length release. Available as digital download the album offers fourteen tracks influenced by ambient and Detroit techno. His lush sounds recalled me some atmospheres created by Marco Bernardi/Octogen (check the beautiful "Breath in your fear" where Matthew created a convincing mix of melody, upbeat rhythms using warm sounds) as well as some Miami atmospheres a la Gosub. Growing cyclic structures are used to create strong atmospheric moments where you are lost into fluctuating sounds and rich rhythmic textures. Some tracks need more than a listening to be fully appreciated because at first they sound a little naive melodically talking but with the listening I appreciated also the extemporaneous experimental attitude (check the semi random notes of "Calculated notes" or the strings arrangement on "Which direction")

Smells nice and has a good atmo. but i expected so from future beat alliance.

Electric Indigo

I like calculated notes, never forever

and which direction. actually, i like the beginnings of almost every track on the album but many develop a certain "progressive" feel or have sounds come in that i do not really like. it's a matter of taste... but the 3 tunes i will play in more ambient sets that i do occasionally.

Stefan Riesen (morrisaudio)

Classic stuff!

Kent Williams (chaircrusher)

Lush! Reminds me of Black Dog, but not as fidgety.  Really works as an album for start-to-finish listening.

Truly stunning work, a real gem of an album, really enjoyable, listening to it was the highlight of the past few days.

The musicality, depth, soul and emotion found throughout really set this music apart.

Been playing "Reverse The Negative" for well over a year now in bars / afterhours etc.

Effective use of vocal samples from Batman begins in "Breathe in Your Fear", creates a unique atmosphere!

Its the kind of electronic music that could be enjoyed by serious techno heads and my girlfriends parents alike!

Would be surprised if some of the music doesn't make it into a film soundtrack.

I'm most likely to play out "Never Forever" in the clubs.

"Without Words" is one of the highlights - a very beautiful piece!

Overall it gets the gold seal of approval.
